R. D. Woodard, affectionately known as " Woody" to his
family, colleagues and friends, has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1976 and 1977, respectively. Woody served 21 years in the United States Air Force. He began his career with Sutton-Sutton Mortuary, Inc. in 1968.
After the deaths of State Representative G. J. Sutton, M. D. Wright, Jr., and State Representative Lou Nelle Sutton, Woody has held the position of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer since 1994.
Woody is active in the San Antonio community. He is a member of the following professional and civic organizations: Alamo Funeral Directors Association; Independent Funeral Directors Association of Texas, Inc.; National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association; National Funeral Directors Association; Texas Funeral Directors Association; Golden Rule Cemetery Association; International Cemetery and Funeral Association; American Legion; Lions Club; and NAACP (Lifetime Member). He was honored as Professional of the Year - 2001 by the Independent Funeral Directors Association of Texas, Inc.
